For me, social media has made living away from home much more doable. It allows me to keep up to date on what my friends and family are doing – and not take tons of time doing it. Sometimes there isn’t time for a call (especially with the time difference), but just being able to see the photos from my nephew’s birthday party or knowing that my sister just finished her first half-marathon, makes me feel I am still a part of their lives each day.
Well at a personal level social Media is important to me in so many ways – not only to maintain contact with family in friends whilst im having a great time in Qatar at Mada, but also professionally, informing my thinking and daily activity by summarising and making difficult ideas easy to understand (step forward twitter and youtube respectively)
But for disabled people social media is of even more value, Social media is about connecting not with technology or information, but with people. And fo someone who is socially excluded as a result of poor building design, inaccessible transport or low income then access to networks of people via social media changes lives.
Facebook, youtube, twitter, etc are all part of helping disabled people become both digitally and socially included. This will help to change attitudes towards people with disabilities in places where they are rarely seen
For such people decisions to block social networking sites and social media have implications that policy makers all to ofetn have not had brought to their atention

Scoial media helped me to be in touch with my friends and allows me know the lastest news about them. Today, i’m just sending my congratuations to my friend on his marriage after i saw his wedding ceremony photos. Thanks to the Social media, the world becaem a small viallage. As for me, it not a small village but i see that the world became a house where i’m setting in one room and the rest of the world in the room next to mine.

Social media has connected millions of people round the globe. Anytime anywhere we are, we can be connected at any time
There’s an excellent whitepaper download from Palo Alto Networks, “To Block or Not. Is that the question?” here: http://bit.ly/d2NZRp. It has lots of insightful and useful information about identifying and controlling Enterprise 2.0 apps (Facebook, Twitter, Skype, AIM, etc). Enjoy!
